When you win a project:

TradeSource charges a 10% fee — but you only pay 5%
The GC pays your 5% on accepting your bid
The GC pays their 5% upfront.
That 5% is applied as a credit between you and the GC (you give them the 5% they paid back as a credit on their first invoice)
This makes the cost of the introduction evenly shared between you and the contractor
